The Fuels Management Division of Bridger Fire Inc., which includes wildfire mitigation for Urban Interface areas, was developed for private landowners. Wildfire in the Urban Interface is a nationally recognized threat that is growing yearly. The 2001 fire season found Bridger Fire Inc. involved with nine different Urban Interface wildfires, including several in Montana and Wyoming.

While firefighters have had success in saving homes in the Urban Interface, success is not guaranteed. However, there are ways property owners can increase their chances of keeping their homes and property largely intact. By accepting the reality of wildfire, private individuals can prepare their land, homes, and minds for this inevitable event.
